AIAF 2 brought together a remarkable ensemble of 32 international artists from 12 different countries at the vibrant destination of Hurghada between September 22nd and October 1st, 2023.
A carefully designed program allowed them to create artworks, exchange experiences, and explore innovative ideas, in the hope of establishing an environment supportive of the cross- cultural dialogue among them. This ten-day artistic and cultural Festival, which was held under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities, together with the Red Sea Governorate.
The program included a week-long workshop ensuring a space for artistic production. Daily artist talks and networking events were scheduled along with seaside activities creating a rich and enjoyable artist retreat.
AIAF2’s guest speaker Suzy Sikorski joined us from Christie’s Dubai to give a talk to the participating artists on the art market and its obscurities. Her time at AIAF allowed her to look at artist portfolios and advise artists individually, too.
On October 1 st AIAF concluded with the official opening of an international group exhibition showcasing artworks by all 32 artists produced during their stay in Hurghada. The opening was attended by officials, artists and ALDAU Development‘s VIP guests.
This was followed by an official ceremony at The Arena with speeches by the Red Sea governor Mr. Amr Hanafi, Mr. Amr El Qady, Chairman of the Tourism Promotion Authority, the Chairman of ALDAU Development Eng. Bassel Sami Saad and featured a captivating musical performance.
The AIAF2 exhibition highlighted the diversity of participating artists and the rich exchange that took place at AIAF manifesting in an exception collection of artworks that remained on display until 10/10 before becoming part of ALDAU Development’s corporate art collection.
